TEAM SPOTLIGHT:
Team Sunflower, The Joyce Sue McKeon Memorial Team

This is the seventh year that Team Sunflower, The Joyce Sue McKeon Memorial Team will walk the Colon Cancer Challenge. It is also the seventh year they will continue to miss their dear mother, friend and loved one, Joyce Sue McKeon, who lost her two-year battle with colon cancer in August 2003 at the age of 67. Joyce is survived by her four children, Kevin, Sean, Kim and Joy, two daughters-in-law and five grandchildren.

Kim and Joy McKeon formed the team in memory of their mother Joyce. Joyce’s favorite flower was the Sunflower and the team can be seen each year decked out in sunflower hats and t-shirts. Kim ran the first year and may run this year, but also likes to walk the Remembrance and Prevention Walk with her sister, Joy, and their band of loyal friends. Bethany, Joyce’s oldest granddaughter, also participates in the walk.

It is Team Sunflower’s hope that even more turn out on this very emotional day to support both the memory of their mother and also bring awareness to the importance of getting screened.

Thanks to the Colon Cancer Challenge and the memory of Joyce Sue McKeon, many people have had early screenings!

Team Sunflower doesn’t just talk the talk, they literally walk the walk.
