|Get Fit to be tied over colon cancer|
We've completed the challenge this year and now that your running shoes are broken in and your muscles have recovered, it's time to continue the fight against colon cancer. As Father's Day approaches, we invite you join us by paying tribute to the fathers in our lives through our Tie One On photo contest. Visit facebook.com/ColonCancerChallengeFoundation and share photos of you wearing your (or dad's) favorite necktie using our Facebook app.
Each day, we'll choose a winning photo for a prize as well the chance to win the grand prize of great seats at a Yankees or Mets game this season.
Frank Garritano, a participant in last year's challenge and a father to three-year-old Isabella, is especially grateful for the chance to celebrate it this year. Frank a marathon runner and restaurant owner in Orangeburg, New York was diagnosed with colon cancer at age 40 after a routine checkup. He received the news just a few days after Isabella celebrated her first birthday. After undergoing surgeries and chemotherapy, he is enjoying Father's Day with his wife and daughter this year while officially in remission.
"Every hug from my daughter, every time she looks at me, every time I can be there for her is really a joy, and to celebrate Father's Day with my family is incredibly priceless to me," said Frank. "I hope I can inspire other people to learn their family history and to get screened because nothing should come before your health."
At the Colon Cancer Challenge Foundation, we invite you to use this Father's Day as a time to share your photos with us and your health history with your loved ones. By helping everyone understand their risks and genetic history, we'll save thousands of lives this year.
