Race Scoring

Both the 15K and 4-mile are scored races that count toward the nine races NYRR members as of January 2008 need to qualify for eligibility for guaranteed entry to the ING New York City Marathon 2009. The races will be timed using the ChampionChip® system. Start mats will be removed approximately 10 minutes after the start of each race, after which net times will not be recorded. Please follow the instructions in your race packet on attaching the chip to your shoe and then returning the chip following the race. Note that you will be charged $35 if you do not return the chip within 20 days. You must complete the races with your chip attached to your shoe or your time will not be recorded. The walk is unscored. Your time will not be recorded; please check the clock at the finish line. This walk does not count toward qualifying for guaranteed entry to the ING New York City Marathon.
