Who is “Partners in Prevention”?

Who is Partners in Prevention?

Partners in Prevention is a joint initiative of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine Cancer Center and Montefiore Medical Center. It is dedicated to reducing colorectal cancer incidence and death in metropolitan New York. Our mission includes:
  • Increasing public awareness about colorectal cancer and its prevention
  • Encouraging early colorectal cancer screenings for all
  • Educating health care providers and the public
  • Supporting the Colon Cancer Alliance and C5 (Citywide Colon Cancer Control Coalition)
  • Supporting and conducting research into the causes of and cures for colorectal cancer
  • Supporting young scientific investigators; the Future of Colon Cancer Research

Our Leaders

To the left is Thomas K. Weber, MD, Founder and Executive Director of Partners in Prevention, Professor of Surgery and Molecular Genetics Albert Einstein College of Medicine and Montefiore Medical Center. To the right is Albert J. Ferro, MA, Director of Partners in Prevention, Albert Einstein College of Medicine and Cancer Center Montefiore Medical Center.

All funds raised directly support the Partners in Prevention mission and initiatives in metropolitan New York. This mission includes supporting efforts to provide colorectal cancer screening for the uninsured. The 2007 Challenge gave $10,000 for colon cancer screenings to the uninsured of New York City and was coordinated by the New York City Council and the American Cancer Society.
