The ING New York City Marathon Charity Runner program and our signature event, the Colon Cancer Challenge, in collaboration with New York Road Runners (NYRR) highlight the steps to be taken to raise public awareness of this preventable, yet often fatal, disease. The Challenge, in its ninth year in 2012, includes a 15K, 4-mile run and 1.7-mile Remembrance & Prevention Walk and is held in Central Park each March during National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month.
Even if you’re not a runner, there are many ways to get involved with the Colon Cancer Challenge Foundation. We are always looking for people to volunteer at our various events or serve on a committee. There are even opportunities to host an event of your own. In addition, many opportunities exist to get organizations you belong to or the company you work for involved as well.
The following pages include information on becoming a partner in the fight against colorectal cancer. Whether you choose to make a donation, volunteer, get your company involved or help spread the message that with early screening colorectal cancer can be preventable, treatable and beatable, you are helping to change people’s lives for the better. Your efforts have a significant impact on the Colon Cancer Challenge Foundation’s mission to support colon cancer prevention through research, screening and public awareness.
